Redheart Foals In Horse & Hound Magazine 2019
Absolutely delighted to see our 2019 Appaloosa foals’ picture was chosen to feature in this week’s Horse & Hound magazine, celebrating the READER ISSUE – “All the drama and emotion of your 2019”.
As a child I was brought up on a working farm in Cwmbran, South Wales. I used to spend my days pulling up docks in the fields, creosoting the fences, white washing the stables and washing out the water tanks in order to have a pony.
I obtained many other rides in my early teenage days and learnt a little from each one. Every horse was different in size, nature, ability and scope. I very quickly learnt how to achieve the very best from that individual in whatever discipline.
At the age of eighteen I headed off to West Oxfordshire carrying on my education in land management and business studies in the Thoroughbred world. During this time many doors opened,
In 1997 a vacancy at a National Hunt Trainer in Gloucestershire opened a new chapter in my life with the availability of stables and land located nearby. Confidently starting training and competing point to pointers as a hobby.
2007 I started working at The Three Counties Equine Hospital LLP. This has been the most enjoyable and rewarding place of work. I am proud to be part of a dedicated team moving forward in the Veterinary world, full of new and exciting technology to aid the equine industry.
With no horses in my life during my “brood mare” days, I can honestly say it must be a disease in the blood! It wasn’t long before I longed for some kind of “equine interest” and challenge .
Off to France to import Peyres Catori Cat in 2008 and off to Austria to collect and import Princesse Pascale in 2009!
My foundation stock to build upon, Redheart Appaloosas today.

Well, that was the easiest weaning we have ever had… Maybe because we have four foals, maybe because our new stables have “windows” for them to interact? Minimal “calling” from the mares and foals, quite honestly, we don’t know why the foals were actually not bothered, so we are just going to go with it!
Relentless Rookie Revelation Refrection
All done… We have 1 x 97% FPD, 3 X 100% FPD, 1 x GAP 5 and 1 x GAP 6 registered foals. Our breeding plan is slowly getting there, 10 years later 🙂
Its been twelve days since our stallion DFR Patahas Redheart entered the Stallion AI centre, they collected from him seven times and he’s averaged 8 doses per collection, his semen is of a small quality being less than 10ml per collection, seriously concentrated! It is a long process to get the health papers, both pre and […]
Education should be fun for foals and what ever we do is slow, repetitive and rewarding. The foals are now learning about pressure with ropes and they’re responding well. Relentless is the eldest, so he’s the more advanced foal at 5 months old he’s learning to move his hind quarters away from the pressure applied […]
